"Captain Tal, you're in charge of the main hangar. Take seven squads of troopers and set up defensive positions. Havoc will be there to assist you. Blitz is already working on destroying the Tridents. I'll take care of the corridors."
"Got it, sir."
-Tal and ARC Commander Colt, during the Third Battle of Kamino
ARC-3827 (originally known as CT-3827), nicknamed "Tal" (which stands for Talk A Lot), is a decorated Advanced Recon Commando Captain who currently serves in the 104th Under Commander Wolffe of the Wolf Pack
One of the millions of clones bred in Tipoca City of Kamino from the DNA of Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, Tal was the unofficial leader of Clone Cadet trainee squad Bravo. While there was a slight sense of animosity amongst them, Tal and his brothers graduated from their final exam and moved on to fight in the Clone Wars. At some point in his military career, Tal was given the honor of becoming an ARC trooper and was promoted to the rank of Captain, serving in Rancor Battalion under ARC Commander "Colt". He assisted in the defense of his homeworld, Kamino, when it came under attack for the third time. Following the battle, Tal, at his own request, was reassigned to the 104th.
"Why can't the dominos just accept each other as brothers? The way they argue, it's like they don't want to. That just seems out of place..."
-Tal, commenting on the disunity of Domino Squad
Like all troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic, Tal was a clone of famed bounty hunter Jango Fett, bred and born on the rainy world of Kamino.
Tal trained with Bravo Squad during his days as a Clone Cadet. Tal earned his nickname through his uncanny tendency to talk, with the word "tal" being the first initials of the phrase "talk a lot". Over the years, he and his squadmates became experts at completing the Citadel Challenge training course, often finishing the course in "ARC trooper time". During this time, Tal was good friends with "Source", a Clone Cadet who served on Bravo Squad as well.
Tal was the unofficial leader of Bravo Squad but his leadership was often questioned by fellow cadet "Sharp", who believed that he was the better leader of the two. This led to heated arguements on who should be the group's leader. Despite this, the group was able to excel in running the Citadel Challenge but their "behind-the-scenes" arguments were sensed by Jedi Master Shaak Ti. She approached them during one of their breaks and managed to convince them to stop fighting, which led to a strong bond forming between them.
Because of their strong unity and excellent teamwork on the Citadel Challenge, Tal and his brothers, after successfully completing their final test, were marked as pontential ARC trooper candidates by ARC Commander Colt of Rancor Battalion.
"It feels good to be home..."
Tal, after surviving a few battles as a "shinie", ultimately earned the title of ARC trooper and later began working in Rancor Battalion as a Captain under Colt's command. However, this was not without a cost; Tal's fellow brother, Source, was seemingly killed in action during a dangerous mission. Tal mourned the loss of his best friend but nonetheless continued to serve the Republic. Unbeknownst to him, Source was actually still alive and would save him from many dangers in the months to come.
He was stationed back on Kamino and found himself tasked with evaluating Clone Cadets' final tests. Tal commented that the job was "boring" but added that "it felt good to be home."
Tal fought in the Third Battle of Kamino, defending his homeworld from invading Separatists. He was in charge of the defense in Tipoca City's main hanger and led squads of Clone troopers in fighting off Aqua Droids. During the battle, Tal was secretly assisted by his long presumed-dead brother, Source, fighting waves of droids together. However, due to the intensity of the fight, Tal was unable determine Source's presence on the battlefield.
"We need reinforcements in here, now!"
-Tal, requesting for backup ("Deception")
Unable to cope with the deaths of so many brothers in his memories, Tal fell into a minor state of depression and requested transfer to the Coruscant Guard from Rancor Battalion to get some time away from the war. He took up using the new Phase II armor but stripped himself of his ARC equipment. Tal was assigned to the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center as one of the many prison guards and worked under the command of Clone Commander Fox.
Tal accompained Fox in taking away the newly-retrieved criminal, Rako Hardeen, who was supposedly responsible for the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Tal was guarding the mess hall when a prison riot broke out. Wielding a DC-15A blaster rifle, Tal shot and stunned several of the prisoners but the escapees proved to be too much for the Clone Shock troopers guarding the area and managed to exit the mess hall.
"Turn your weapons off stun. Kill the prisoners if you have to!"
-Tal, during the prison riot ("Deception")
As many of the prisoners had escaped and were beating back the security force, Tal ordered all Shock troopers to turn off the stun modes of their blasters and to kill the escapees if necessary.
At some point during the riot, Tal led a small task force of Shock troopers in setting up a blockade at the entrance to one of the emergency hangars. Most of the prisoners, already armed with stolen stun blasters, were making their way there to acquire escape vehicles and flee Coruscant. Tal and his team held off the initial wave but were soon overwhelmed, with Tal being the last to lose consciousness. Once again, Tal was secretly watched by Source, who, upon noting Tal's fall, engaged the remaining prisoners in close quarters combat. Using his newfound agility, precision, and blade, Source killed the prisoners before disappearing once more.
The Clone Shock troopers were ultimately able to push the prisoners back into their cells.
Tal was later awakened by his Shock troopers, contemplating on who could have killed the prisoners.
Protecting the ChancellorEdit
"Take him and Bane into custody."
-Jedi Master Mace Windu to Tal ("Crisis on Naboo")
Tal was among the group of Clone Shock troopers who accompained Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to Naboo, where a ceremony was to be held.
When a group of bounty hunters initiated their plan to kidnap Palpatine, Tal assisted in escorting several of the ceremony attendants to a safe location.
During this turn of events, Source was actually part of the team of bounty hunters to assassinate the Chancellor. However, when Source discovered Tal to be part of the Republic security team, the former Clone turned on his allies, only to be shot in the back by Tal himself, who was still unaware of Source's true identity. Source would later be rescued by an unidentified person.
Tal later followed Jedi Generals Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker to an abandoned plasma refinery, where he apprehended Cad Bane and Moralo Eval and took them into Republic custody.
Bombing of the Jedi TempleEdit
When the Jedi Temple was bombed by a terrorist, Tal was among the group of Clone shock troopers assigned to work with Jedi Master Cin Drallig as well as several Temple Guards in ensuring that angry protestors would not storm the Temple.
Carrying a stun baton and riot shield, Tal stood on guard facing the mob when Anakin Skywalker came to have a discussion with Drallig.
"Commander Tano, stop! (...) She's heading north, through the prison corridor. Cut her off!"
-Tal to Fox, on Ahsoka Tano escaping ("The Jedi Who Knew Too Much")
Tal was later stationed at a Republic Military prison, where Ahsoka Tano would be detained for supposedly killing Letta Turmond, who was suspected of bombing the Jedi Temple. When the Jedi escaped, Tal led two Clones in attempting to arrest her, working in tandem with Clone Commander Fox to flank and subdue her.
Tal was among the squadrons of troops chasing Tano across the prison. Despite outnumbering her and their best efforts, the Clones were unable to recapture the escaping Jedi.
Chasing a FugitiveEdit
Tal was part of the team lead by Jedi General Plo Koon and Clone Commander Wolffe to pursue Ahsoka down into the Coruscant underworld.
Following the report of a recon droid, Tal and his squad eventually found, surrounded and cornered Ahsoka, who was apparently in the company of Asajj Ventress. When the duo refused to surrender, the Clone shock trooper team moved in, only to be physically severely beaten and left groggy by the fugitive Jedi and the former assassin.
Later, Tal accompanied Wolffe in stunning Ahsoka when she was found in a munitions warehouse, thus, prevailing in their mission to take the Jedi into custody.
A Rogue CloneEdit
"Despite what we had to do, he was still a clone... A brother."
-Tal, on ARC trooper Fives' death
Sometime later, Tal was part of the security team guarding Palpatine when ARC trooper Fives, who claimed there was a conspiracy against Clones and the Jedi, was brought in for an audience with the Supreme Chancellor; Tal, along with Jedi Master Shaak Ti (whom he was pleased to see again due to her involvement with his training though he did not reveal himself) and Kaminoan doctor Nala Se, stood watch at a door while the meeting took place. When a cry for help was heard, Tal and the others rushed in to see Fives, having knocked out the other Clone Shock troopers guarding the room, pointing a blaster at Palpatine. Ti used the Force to disable the ARC trooper before he could fire and later chased him when he escaped. While Ti pursued Fives, Tal stayed behind to ensure Palpatine's safety.
Tal was still part of Palpatine's security team, guarding him in his chamber, during the pursuit for Fives, who was by now accused of attempting to assassinate the Supreme Chancellor. When a report on Fives' location was received, Tal, along with a team of Clone Shock troopers, accompanied Clone Commander Fox in arresting him.
Upon arrival at the designated location, they find a frantic Fives trying to explain himself to Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain Rex; both of whom were trapped behind a ray shield. After analysing the situation for a brief moment, Fox led Tal and the team in confronting Fives, who immediately drew a blaster pistol on them. In quick reaction, however, Fox fired first, mortally wounding Fives with a shot through his chest. Rex cried out his friend's name while Skywalker ordered the ray shield to be taken down. Complying, Tal shot the generator emitting the shield. Tal and his fellow troopers later took off their helmets and surrounded the deceased Fives, mourning his death. Tal lamented that, despite their orders to take him down, Fives was still "a brother" to them.
Following that event, Tal continued to serve the Republic. His fate is continuous/alive.
"Why isn't this armor a standard issue?"
-Tal, on the experimental version of the Phase II armor
As a cadet, Tal used the standard training armor that was painted with red markings to signify that he was part of Bravo Squad. His set of training armor had the number "3" on it. When he became a Clone trooper, Tal utilized the Phase I Clone Trooper Armor, which was initially sleek white due to his inexperience on battlefield. Tal began wearing the experimental version of the Phase II Clone Trooper Armor after his promotion to ARC trooper. The armor sported personalized red markings and featured: a hybrid helmet of the Phase I and II designs, extra protective plating, ammunition pouches, a kama, and a rank-siginifying pauldron. While working in the Coruscant Guard, Tal, after stripping himself of his ARC gear, utilized the more fexible Phase II armor that was painted with standard red makings of the guard force.
Weapons-wise, Tal used a DC-15S blaster carbine during his time as a Clone trooper and ARC trooper in Rancor Battalion. He took up using a DC-15A blaster rifle, a stun baton as well as a riot shield when he joined the ranks of the Coruscant Guard.
Personality and traitsEdit
"If you asked me who I would thank for my training, I would thank General Shaak Ti. Without her, the members of Bravo Squad would not have made it past that final test."
As a Clone Cadet with no experience on the field, Tal had an uncanny tendency to talk, which ultimately earned him his nickname. After spending months fighting in the war, Tal began to lose this talkative personality. Seeing so many of his brothers killed in battle hardened Tal's resolve to win and finish the war but not without a downside. The deaths of his fellow clones as well as his friend, "Source", mentally damaged Tal, causing him to fall into a state of depression. The experiences of war turned the once enthusiastic Tal into a rather serious Clone trooper. Despite the change in personality, Tal still greatly cared about his brothers and always placed their safety above anything else.
In addition, Tal held an extremely high respect for the Jedi. He did not hesitate to throw Rako Hardeen into a cell when he learned that the latter had killed Obi-Wan Kenobi and constantly kept a close eye on him (though he did not know that "Rako Hardeen" was actually Kenobi in disguise). Of all Jedi, Tal held the utmost respect for Jedi Master Shaak Ti as she was the one who oversaw Bravo Squad's training, which ultimately resulted in them forming a strong bond with each other. However, after the bombing of the Jedi Temple, which saw several Clones killed, Tal's faith in the Jedi was somewhat shaken and later unquestioningly pursued Jedi Ahsoka Tano when she was suspected of being the murderer. Despite this incident, Tal still kept a profound respect for the Force-users, believing they would lead the Republic to victory in the war.
On a personal note, Tal was known to be an avid and skilled player of Card Commander, a card-based trading game that was popular amongst Clone troopers of the Republic.

- Tal's reason for stripping himself of his ARC gear was never mentioned. He most likely did it to be on equal fighting levels with his clone brothers, wanting to show no sense of superiority while around them despite being an ARC trooper.
- Interestingly, Tal's secondary color has always been red. Bravo Squad's unit color was red. Tal personalized his ARC trooper armor with red markings and later wore Phase II armor that was painted with the red markings of the Coruscant Guard.
- Tal's identification number is 3827, where 27 is made from deducting 1 from the individual numbers of 38 (3 - 1 = 2 and 8 - 1 = 7).
